# It's your job to solve problems

Sometimes when my father asks me how work is going, I complain and say "it's too difficult. I'm running into too many issues that I don't know how to fix." And he'd say:

But that's your job - to solve problems. That's why you get paid.

Somehow this always makes me feel better. It reminds of me of what my purpose at work is. My job isn't to write code. My job is to solve problems and writing code is just a means to that end.
