# X Days of Making, Days 1 and 2: Cookies and a Data Dashboard
# Intro
I have two weeks of holidays coming up and there's a bunch of things that I've been wanting to make or work on, but my holidays often end up being a constant debate with myself of whether I should be "resting" or "working." I say "working" in quotation marks, because I think that working on things that you're truly interested in, can also be restorative.
I decided I would try to just make at least one thing a day for the next X days. I haven't decided until when I would carry on, hence the "X".
# Day 1: Xmas cookies
On day 1, I felt like I needed to start getting into the Christmas spirit and decided to make some cookies. I've been wanting to make these stained glass window cookies (opens new window) for a long time. I decided to make some Smarties cookies, adapted from this M&M cookies recipe (opens new window), while I was at it.
The stained glass cookies turned out okay as I didn't go through the effort of making them look pretty, but the Smarties cookies really slapped in terms of taste.

# Day 2: Data Dashboard
There's an emerging online shop in South Africa that I don't want to name specifically, but that I've been considering to build a competitor for. I scraped some of their data to do some analysis and created a Metabase dashboard:

What stood out was the weird spike in listed products on the day that I scraped the data.
I'm tempted to continue to work on the scraping and dashboard, but I also know that I'm essentially just procrastinating on actually working on a competing product. The data and the dashboard all just confirmed what I already suspected: they have a good amount of users and it's growing. 📈
Stay tuned for more X days of making!
